I didn't just promise transparency. I built it. OpenRochester is a civic tool I built to show how Rochester actually works — who decides what, where the money goes, and how residents are heard, ward by ward. It's a working preview. See it for yourself.
Meet Axe Abdimajid Ahmed
I'm Axe Ahmed — a Rochester native, John Marshall High School graduate, husband, and father of three.
Rochester has always been home. It's where I grew up, and where my high school sweetheart, Laura, and I are raising our three children. Like many Rochester families, we're invested in the future of our city and the opportunities it creates for the next generation.
I currently serve on Rochester's Planning & Zoning Commission and as a board member of the Rochester Downtown Alliance, working alongside residents, business owners, and community leaders to help shape a strong future for our city.
My background in business analytics taught me the value of hearing people clearly, making data-informed decisions, and focusing on measurable results.
I'm running for mayor because Rochester deserves leadership that hears residents, builds trust, and produces results residents can actually see. I love this city, and I believe our best days are still ahead.

As Rochester grows, infrastructure, transportation, housing, and services must keep pace — and growth should benefit residents in every part of the city.
